CERATIZIT customer story
Brovedani machines with MaxiClick

Brovedani SpA from Italy has been a customer of CERATIZIT Italia SpA for years and now applies MaxiClick from CERATIZIT. With the parting and grooving tool MaxiClick Brovedani machines pump filters for the automotive sector. Brovedani produces 150 million components per year: injection valves, plunger adjustment systems and steerage systems for the automotive and motorcycle industry. Brovedani was founded in 1947 in Pordenone (Italy); today the company has 500 employees.

“We were looking for a new solution which was supposed to enable us to change the tool rapidly and easily,” says Denis Pistor, technical tool manager at Brovedani. The parts which have to be machined require a consistently high quality level which had to be maintained or even improved. In this context productivity was also to be enhanced through time saving. When parting and grooving pump filters we applied MaxiClick MC 10 from CERATIZIT and a coolant on our material 42CrMo4 with a hardness of 300 Hb. Compared to the parting and grooving systems applied beforehand, a gratifying cost saving and a 40% production increase resulted. We frequently part off steel bars, and as MaxiClick is a particularly narrow insert a great deal of material can be saved.

MaxiClick – parting and grooving tool with highly productive cutting operations
Michele Carraro, cutting tool sales manager of CERATIZIT Italia SpA, can only confirm the experiences of his customer: “The first tests with the CERATIZIT parting and grooving system has already created considerable interest. Its innovative tool design gives a simple method of breaking off the worn-out cutting edge and replacing it quickly thus reducing unproductive downtime.”

The parting and grooving tool with the break-off cutting edges consists of a tool shank with a longitudinal lateral groove where up to five cutting edges are placed one after the other. The first cutting edge can simply be broken off after having worn out, so room is made for the following cutting edge. After a very short time the tool can be used applying the new cutting edge. Carraro: “Like the carpet cutting knife for professionals from the DIY.”

The parting and grooving system consists of two different tool holders or tool shank types and inserts with cutting widths between 1.0 and 2.5 mm. The total length of the cutting insert is around 60 mm. Depending on the insert and the tool holder MaxiClick makes cutting depths up to 10 mm possible.

The MaxiClick tooling system is designed for optimum swarf control and for optimised combinations between material and coating for a wide range of applications.
