From March onwards the CERATIZIT group will be directly represented in the Mexican market. The recently founded affiliate is located in Querétaro, 200 km north of Mexico City. “This represents a logical step in furthering our strategy towards an international orientation of our group,” says Thierry Wolter, member of the Board and in charge of the company division Cutting Tools. “The Mexican market is gaining more and more independence and momentum and is developing rapidly. Those who want to work this market seriously, can no longer operate from the USA but have to prove their strength directly on site.” A similar decision was taken by CERATIZIT last year with the opening of the Brazil office which is operating very successfully.

Mr Jesko Klippstein (44) has been appointed managing director of the new CERATIZIT organisation. Mr Klippstein has several years of experience as a managing director of the Mexican affiliate of a European company and knows the market for cutting tools and wear products very well. In the automotive sector particularly, one of the most important industrial sectors in Mexico, Mr Klippstein has a great deal of experience.

In the cutting tool division the new team will first focus its activities on the automotive industry, oil industry and aerospace sector, while in the wear product division they will concentrate on the tool and die industry, tube manufacture and fastening technology.

“The foundation of a sales company in Mexico is the result of a consistent global growth strategy," says Klippstein. “Particularly for the automotive industry Mexico is of growing significance. Every important manufacturer is now represented by at least one production site in the market. As a consequence all important automotive suppliers have established themselves in Mexico.

This was one of the criteria when choosing the location. In addition to a series of logistic advantages Querétaro is characterised by the highest presence in quantity of automotive subcontractors compared to all other regions of the country.

The Mexican metal working industry shows a growth of around 5% per year. It has become more and more apparent that the presence in the market through a sales company and thus ensured customer vicinity are the prerequisites for business success. Klippstein: “It does not matter how good the products of a manufacturer are, in doubt a customer will choose the supplier who is there within a short time when he is needed. The more complex and delicate a process is, the more important it is to be able to provide application technology and logistic competence without delay.

This creates specific requisites for the staff. Besides the necessary knowledge of the language and the multi-cultural competence necessary in an international company, target direction and success-oriented working methods are in the foreground. A team of employees is currently being assembled according to these stipulations.
